Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the IEEE Communications Society and members of the Executive and Technical Program Committees, it is my great pleasure to invite you to participate in the 2003 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference, WCNC 2003. WCNC, the wireless flagship conference of the IEEE Communications Society, will offer comprehensive interaction on wireless industry topics and an exchange of ideas with professionals from all over the world. For WCNC 2003, we have expanded the program to accommodate over 370 papers to present the highest quality in technical content.

As was the case last year, this year’s conference will be co-located with the Cellular Telephone and Internet Association’s (CTIA) Annual Conference. We are sure that the exhibits provided by CTIA will attract your technical interest and set high targets for the wireless industry.

The Conference Committee has chosen "The Dawn of Pervasive Communication" as the main theme. High security and durability against the huge numbers of illegal accesses are essential in present mobile-IP networks. In addition, easier access, lower prices and greater convenience are important for achieving broadband universal and mobile communications. Strong cooperation of wireless and networking technologies is needed. You will be given the opportunity of supplementing the technical benefits offered by the conference with the vision offered by "Pervasive Communication."

New Orleans, this year’s host city, provides a wide variety of activities and is known throughout the world for its many historic and memorable attractions and festivities.

I look forward to seeing you at WCNC 2003 in New Orleans, and hope that you will enjoy the conference and technical exhibits.
